FAQ

What do we actually do?

One thing: we determine whether your workers' compensation premium was calculated correctly, and argue it if it wasn't. We are an independent consulting service — we don't sell insurance, place coverage, or replace your agent or broker.

What does the free review include?

An audit expert reads your actual audit worksheet — the class codes, the payroll basis, what was added and what was excluded — and tells you within 24 hours whether there is a valid dispute. It's free, with no obligation and no account to create. See a sample of the free report you'll receive.

What's the difference between the free review vs. the paid review?

The free review tells you whether you have a case. The paid review is the case.

The free review answers one question: is there anything worth disputing? A specialist reads your worksheet and you get an answer with an estimated return premium within 24 hours.

The paid review is the document you actually dispute with. It explains every error we found, cites the specific manual rule and excerpt behind each one, shows the premium comparison between the original audit and the corrected classifications, and includes a dispute email you can send directly to your carrier. Our contact information is included for follow-up questions.

Do you handle the entire dispute process from start to finish, including carrier communications?

We can. The full analysis includes a dispute-ready email you can send to your carrier with our findings attached, and most disputes are resolved on the strength of those findings alone. If you'd rather hand off the process entirely, we'll take on the fight with the carrier from start to finish — that work is billed at the same $499/hour and isn't included in the standard estimate, which covers review hours only. Complex accounts often warrant it. Email ClientServices@premiumaudit.ai once you've received your preliminary quote and we'll build it into the estimate.

What documents do you need from me?

Two documents: the carrier's audit worksheet and the final audit bill. Uploading them takes under five minutes, and files go straight into private, encrypted storage. It would be helpful if you can upload the policy and payroll backup too. Yes, we love Excel spreadsheets.

What does it cost?

The preliminary review is free. If we find errors and you choose to proceed, the full analysis is billed at $499/hour — the same rate whether it's a single entity in one state or a national account across a dozen, regardless of how much we recover. You'll get an estimated hour range in writing before any work begins. Most single-state audits run 2–3 hours.

We never take a percentage of your recovery — see pricing in full.

Why are you priced more competitively than other premium recovery firms? Is the expertise the same?

The expertise is the same — our team is made up of former carrier audit specialists, audit managers, and state bureau experts, several of whom have testified as expert witnesses. The difference is how the fee is set. Most firms take 30–50% of what they recover, so the fee tracks the size of your premium rather than the size of the job, and the clients who recover end up covering the ones who don't. We bill hourly instead, and modern tooling handles the clerical work so the billable time goes to the analysis itself. Cheaper isn't a discount on the work — it's a fee tied to the work instead of to your refund.

What if my audit turns out to be correct?

Then you'll know for certain — and owe nothing. We don't quote analysis on an audit that shouldn't be disputed.

My audit is from a previous year. Is it too late?

Probably not. An audit can generally be disputed up to three years after policy expiration. Dispute rights and recovery windows vary by state and by carrier; the applicable process is confirmed as part of the review.

Who reviews my audit?

Every dispute is read by someone who used to write the determination — a former carrier specialist or state rating bureau expert, with ten years in premium audit at minimum. No junior associates, no offshore contractors. Meet the team.

Does AI analyze my audit?

No. We use AI for clerical work only — drafting letter templates, checking grammar, formatting exhibits. Every judgment in our analysis is written by an expert. The .ai is a domain, not a method.

I have ChatGPT. Why should I pay for your service?

A dispute is only as good as the rule behind it, and general-purpose AI models aren't trained on workers' compensation manual rules — they fall back on unverified web sources or invent rules outright. We see AI-generated disputes citing rules that don't exist, and sending one of those to a carrier costs you credibility. Classification also turns on facts a chatbot can't see: what your employees actually do, whether every subcontractor carried coverage, whether your operations qualify for an exception. Our reviewers spent years inside carriers and bureaus, they know their playbook — which rules to cite and what they will actually accept.

Will disputing an audit hurt my relationship with my carrier or broker?

A dispute is a normal part of the audit process — you're not reducing your premium, you're making sure it's correct. Those are different conversations. Our analysis comes with specific manual references and citations, so what you send your carrier is a documented case, not a complaint. If you're a broker, we work white-label.

Is my information safe?

Files go straight into private, encrypted storage. We do not share your data with other parties, and information you upload is used only for audit consultation and premium dispute. Details in our privacy policy.

What happens after the free review?

Your answer arrives by email (check your spam). If the audit looks correct, you're done — no charge. If we found errors, you decide whether to proceed: reply to that email, we send a payment link, and the full written analysis follows, ready to send straight to your carrier.

Two documents, 24 hours. Then you'll know if you overpaid.

The preliminary review is free, with no obligation.

All we need is the audit worksheet and the final bill.
